About Us

Dr Liang graduated with first class honours from UNSW in 1988. After his internship and residency at Westmead Hospital, he started his radiology career in Hong Kong in 1990. He was appointed lecturer in radiology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in the Prince of Wales Hospital in 1994. He was awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (London) in 1995 and the fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists in 1996. He was a partner with Castlereagh Imaging from 1999 to 2004, practising in Hong Kong and Sydney.

Dr Liang has a passion for interventional radiology. He started this subspecialty in 1995, predominantly treating liver cancers with chemoembolisation and percutaneous ablation. In 1997, he did a travelling fellowship visiting interventional radiology luminaries around the world including Robert Dick and Anthony Watkinson at the Royal Free Hospital London, Barry Katzen at the Miami Vascular Institute, Anthony Venbraux at the Johns Hopkins and Wayne Yakes in Colorado. In 2000, he visited the world leader in fibroid embolisation Dr James Spies in Georgetown University.

Dr Liang returned to Sydney with his family in 2003. In 2004 he went to the Alfred Hospital Melbourne for an Interventional Sabbatical Fellowship with Prof Ken Thomson and Dr Stuart Lyon to perfect his technical skills such as renal artery stenting, uterine fibroid embolisation, vertebroplasty, IVC filters and venous accesses.

Dr Liang joined San Radiology in October 2004. He was a Senior Clinical Lecturer for USyd Clinical School.

He formed Sydney Interventional Radiology Associates in 2014 to engage a group of interventionists to further improve the provision of IR services at the SAN.

Dr Liang has special interest in Uterine Artery Embolisation for fibroids and adenomyosis. He published on the use of UAE to treat fibroids and adenomyosis in ANZJOG in 2012, 2018 and 2021. He is actively engaged in research on women’s health interventional radiology.  He enjoys teaching and exchanging ideas at international conferences.

Dr Chennapragada is a medical graduate with distinction honours from the University of Health Sciences in India. He underwent radiology training at Osmania General Hospital, Hyderabad, India and Christian Medical College Hospital, Vellore, India.

He came to Australia for training in Paediatric Radiology at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead. He then went for further fellowship training in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Toronto in Canada. Since his return to Australia in 2006, he has been a consultant interventional radiologist at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Gosford Hospital, and Sydney Adventist Hospital. He is one of the very few specialists in Australia with training and experience in treating both adults and children, using interventional radiology techniques.

Murthy performs a wide range of interventional procedures including embolisation, angioplasty, biopsies and vascular access. His has special interests in vascular malformations , renal vascular disease and dialysis access. He has been active in research, presented his work at local and international meetings He has published many interventional radiology papers in medical journals.

He is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at University of Sydney. He has been associated with the Sydney Interventional Radiology since its inception.

Dr Rattan trained at University College of Medical Sciences in Delhi, India. He received his Radiology training from the University of Rajasthan, India.

Rajiv came to Australia in 2008 and has since then worked as a Senior Staff Specialist at the Central Coast Local Health district and now being the Director of Medical Imaging. He is also a Conjoint Lecturer at the School of Medicine at the University of Newcastle. He is currently the Dean of Royal Australian New Zealand College of Radiologists and will be the President from 2026. 

Dr Rattan is passionate about Interventional Radiology and performs biopsies, drainages, joint and spine injections as well as vascular access.

He has regularly presented in domestic and international conferences as well as contributed chapters to books in Radiology.

Dr Rattan has been associated with the Sydney Interventional Radiology since its inception.

His other area of interest is Radiology Education and he plays an active role in teaching Radiology trainees.

Outside Radiology Rajiv is interested in photography and theatre.

Dr Chris Rogan is passionate about the potential of image guided minimally invasive procedures to improve patient outcomes and treatment experience. He is motivated by patients obtaining great outcomes and being able to return to enjoying their normal lives with minimal downtime.

Dr Chris graduated Medicine from the University of NSW in 2002 with First Class Honours and went on to complete RACS basic surgical training prior to advanced training in radiology at RPA Hospital and subsequently sub-specialisation in image-guided procedures as an interventional radiologist.

After fellowship training at Imperial College London, Chris was awarded the Thomas Baker Travelling Fellowship grant which opened the door to his travelling internationally visiting interventional radiology units across the UK and USA to obtain broad exposure to current best practices. That year, Dr Chris was also awarded European Board of Interventional Radiology certification.

In 2021, Dr Chris became President of the Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia and in this role, he hopes to raise awareness among patients and referring doctors on their minimally invasive, cutting edge treatment options.

Dr Chris is currently involved in researching intra-arterial chemotherapy as well as novel embolisation applications. He is excited this year to build a new Department of Interventional Oncology at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse Cancer Centre. He has special interests in embolization as it applies to conditions including prostate enlargement and knee pain.

Dr Chan is currently a Senior Consultant Interventional and Diagnostic Radiologist in Concord Repatriation General Hospital and Breast Cancer Institute NSW. She has completed two years post graduate fellowships in Interventional Radiology and Breast Imaging in Sydney. 

Dr Chan has special interest in Interventional Oncology, Phlebology and Interventional Radiology treatment for Women and Breast Imaging. She regularly participates in the multidisciplinary team meeting and provides various minimally invasive treatments of liver, lung and kidney tumours including ablation, intra-arterial chemotherapy/radioembolisation therapies (credentialed for delivery of SIR-Spheres, DC beads, TACE, Microwave, RFA and Cryoablation). She also performed various endovascular surgery and venous intervention including central lines, portacaths, renal dialysis fistula maintenance, varicocele treatment and varicose veins treatment including venous ablation and sclerotherapy

She is passionate in female interventional procedures including Uterine Artery Embolisation for fibroids and adenomyosis and treatment of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome.  

Dr Chan is a clinical lecturer for Sydney University, University of New South Wales and an appointed IMG assessor for The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.

Following medical school at the University of New South Wales, Dr Boshell completed his internship and residency at Westmead Hospital.

He completed his specialist training in Diagnostic Radiology at St Vincent’s Hospital. He then went through Interventional Radiology fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital. Dr Boshell is currently a consultant Interventional Radiologist at St Vincent’s Hospital and Sydney Adventist Hospital.

Dr. Boshell has special interests in peripheral vascular disease, pulmonary vascular disease, dialysis access intervention, venous disorders, and interventional oncology. He performs minimally invasive procedures to treat peripheral arterial disease (PAD), vein thrombosis, venous reflux and varicose veins. He is well a recognized leader in Yttrium-90 microsphere radioembolization, as know as selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT).

Outside of the hospital, David spends time with his wife raising a young family.

Dr Tan completed his registrar and fellowship training in Interventional Radiology at Westmead Hospital. Outside Sydney Interventional Radiology, he is also works as an interventional and diagnostic radiologist at I-Med Radiology at Westmead Private Hospital, Alpenglow Australia and practices as a VMO at Gosford public hospital.

Dr Tan is a dedicated interventional radiologist. His main focus is on interventional oncology and pain management, particularly spinal interventions. He treats cancers with trans-arterial chemoembolization (TACE), microwave and radiofrequency ablation. He is experienced in pain management using spinal and musculoskeletal injections. He performs procedures under ultrasound, fluoroscopy and CT guidance in both emergency and outpatient settings.

Dr Radha K Popuri is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at The Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He has over 15 years of experience and is an expert in vascular and lymphatic malformation management, venous interventions and TIPS/Portal hypertension management.

Dr Popuri graduated from Osmania Medical College, Hyderabad, India in 2000. He then went on to train in Internal Medicine at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen, UK including a one year position at registrar level in Oncology. He underwent Radiology training In the Manchester Radiology Training Scheme, Manchester including a one-year subspecialty training attachment in Vascular and Interventional Radiology. He completed a one year Vascular and Interventional Radiology fellowship at the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, Barnes Jewish Hospital, WUSTL, St. Louis, USA.

Dr Popuri worked as a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, Manchester. He arrived in Australia in September 2012 to establish a full time Interventional Radiology service at Orange Health Service.

He is the lead interventional radiologist for the HCC, Vascular and Gastroenterology MDTs at RPAH.

He is the current treasurer and public officer of the Interventional Radiology Society of Australasia (IRSA). He is a Clinical Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Macquarie University.

Dr Popuri has special interests in Interventional Oncology, liver disease with emphasis on interventions for portal hypertension, Prostate artery embolization, peripheral vascular disease, vascular malformation and varicose vein treatments.

His current research interests are the role of IR in the management of degenerative joint disorders including osteoarthritis and adhesive capsulitis

In his leisure time, he likes to spend time with his family and play chess.

Dr. Chour earned his medical degree from Deakin University in Victoria in 2013 and completed his specialist training in Diagnostic Radiology at St. George Hospital. In 2021, he pursued an Interventional Radiology Fellowship at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver. Currently serving as an Interventional Radiologist at St. George Hospital and St. Vincent’s Hospital, he also holds a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) position at several private hospitals in both North and South Sydney.

Dr. Chour focuses on directed therapies for liver and renal cancers, employing techniques such as TACE, SIRT, and thermal ablations. His particular interest extends to innovative treatments for musculoskeletal disorders like arthritis, adhesive capsulitis, and tendinopathies, where he actively engages in ongoing research

Committed to the diagnosis and treatment of male and female infertility, he utilises interventions such as uterine artery embolization, Lipiodol hysterosalpingograms, fallopian tube recanalisation, and varicocele embolization.

Dedicated to education, Dr. Chour finds fulfilment in teaching and mentoring medical students, radiology registrars, and allied health staff.

Dr Ambati is a graduate of the University of New South Wales and completed his general radiology training at St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney. He then undertook subspecialty fellowship training in Interventional Radiology at the University of Alberta followed by a second fellowship in Musculoskeletal Imaging at McGill University Health Centre.

He currently specialises in general Interventional Radiology with special interest in musculoskeletal interventions, urological and hepatobiliary interventions, deep organ biopsies and peripheral vascular disease.

Dr Ambati currently works as a VMO at St Vincent’s hospital and will occasionally provide holiday/leave cover at the SAN.

Kim brings a wealth of experience in client services, having previously worked in the travel industry and successfully operated her own hospitality business.

Driven by a passion for helping others, Kim transitioned into the health sector, gaining valuable experience as an MRI scheduler. Intrigued by the intricacies of medical procedures, she embraced the challenge of becoming a scheduler for interventional radiology procedures.

Kim’s journey reflects her innate drive for personal and professional development. Eager to learn and acquire medical knowledge, she has evolved into a proficient interventional radiology scheduler. Her dedication extends beyond her own growth, as she now plays a key role in coaching new and part-time receptionists, contributing to the overall success of our team.

Rachel has 12 years of customer service experience, including four years as a senior medical secretary. She brings a wealth of expertise to our practice.

Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, Rachel’s multilingual abilities enhance communication for our diverse patient base. She is also learning Korean to expanding her linguistic skills.

Rachel has a forward-thinking approach to professional growth. She is pursuing further studies in medical practice management; Rachel is committed to elevating our standards and contributing to the success of Sydney IR.
